Song Story: THE LYRICS:
I've
had this prayer on my wall for years; have started sketching out song
lyrics several times. For the first time, God helped me to see a
chorus in the prayer words. I
finished sketching the final form of John Wesley's prayer on
Thursday afternoon.
Song Story: THE MUSIC:
That same Thursday night and Friday morning, I wrote all the music and counter melodies for this song, plus I recorded the instrument tracks -- along with another song, RAIN DANCE THANKS. The next day, Friday, I took all tracks to my professional studio #2 at 2 PM. By the time I left at 6 PM, we had recorded not only this song but also
(2) RAIN DANCE THANKS --- *and**
(3) COMPLAINING TO PRAISING SONG.
These 3 songs were all on the World Wide Web within 72 hours of me writing them.
THIS IS GOD, Not “DianaDee”!

Lyrics
are closely based upon John Wesley's journal prayer
written
in 18th century before copyright laws; Public Domain
"Deliver
me, O God, from a slothful mind, from all lukewarmness,
and
all dejection of spirit.
I
know these cannot but deaden my love to thee;
mercifully
free my heart from them,
and
give me a lively, zealous, active, and cheerful spirit;
that
I may vigorously perform whatever thou commandest,
thankfully
suffer whatever thou choosest for me, and
be
ever ardent to obey in all things thy holy love."
–
John Wesley (1703-1791)

Deliver me, I pray, oh God, from a
sluth-full mind.
Deliver me from lukewarm-ness, and a

love to YOU, my Lord.
CHORUS
With these prayer words of John
Wesley,
I pray, LORD: Please deliver me,
from
temptations to be lazy.
Deliver me from sloth so I will serve Thee!
Deliver me from sloth so I will serve Thee!

Use me for Your Kingdom, LORD!
Use me for Your Kingdom, LORD!
Use me for Your Kingdom, LORD!
Use …. me ….. for ….. Your …..
Kingdom, ….. LORD!

Mercifully free my heart from sloth
and lukewarm-ness.
Please free my heart from dejection.

Give me a zealous and active heart
that love to do whatever You command.
CHORUS
3
Thankfully shall I suffer whatever You
choose for me.
I choose to obey and serve You, with

God's SUPPORTING WORDS:
JESUS in John 4, ordering us to stop wasting time-- many people
waiting, dying literally to hear the WORD of God's Gospel, for US to
teach them with the Holy Spirit's help (John 14:26 on).
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

teach them with the Holy Spirit's help (John 14:26 on).
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.”
26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” ....
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!
36 And
he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that
both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
