Christmas With the Birthday Boy, by DianaDee Osborne

CHRISTMAS  WITH THE  BIRTHDAY BOY
                                                 SUBSCRIBE
ALBUM:      Amazing  CHRIST 'n' Christmas
Song location  http://DianaDeeOsborneSongs.com/Songs-2013

Song Story:  THE  MUSIC:
Switching from 4/4 to 3/4 time in a simple studio program like GarageBand is somewhat difficult because you have to create a "workaround". (That's on my Garageband blog, at  http://dianadeegarageband.blogspot.com ).  However, this music came into my mind this way... I'm convinced it was from God, to begin with the typical music timing and switch to a waltz time, a comforting sway to the music.  Music notes also have an up-swing and down-swing to give this a lullaby feel.... a comfort song for anyone sad about losses. Especially of very much missing someone who has died, whom we won't see for what seems such a long while....

Song Story:  THE  LYRICS:
I was literally praying the Prelude prayer... what to send as a Christmas greeting to friends whose young daughter had been killed in a car accident a few months earlier?   I'd been praying for songs to help people.  Started thinking that this topic might be good for a song. After praying for God's wisdom and empowering, I sat at the piano that same afternoon. This music, including the switch from 4/4 to 3/4, is mostly the original music and lyrics of those few hours. Recorded song 5 days later, put on internet that week.

        Notice the final lines...
We ALL are invited in Christ's Presence to celebrate His birthday,  now on earth as well in heaven after we leave this earthly life.
Loving Him and wanting to be in His presence is our choice, though.  See God's invitations in Matthew 22, Parable of King who wants all to come to His feast;
Deuteronomy 30:19, told by God -- URGED by God -- to choose life, not death.
James 4:7-8, our CHOICE to draw near God for protection of be closer to demons.

Remembering Karen: friend of all my children,  child of my friends.

Dedicated to Jesus, Whose Birthday Christmas Is, 7 Dec 2013

LYRICS

PRELUDE
What message can I send them as they

sorrow for her or him?
Christmas cards, full of cheer,

seem thoughtless   this year.
Jesus, give me words to send, to show my love for them,
whose loved one is now in heaven
........
.

VERSE 1
When Christmas is not happy, may you still find
JOY in the Birthday Boy who grew up.
May you know Jesus's PEACE  that He promised:
John 14 mansions for ALL who love Him.
Heaven with Jesus if we prayed Romans 10.
   [Romans 10:9]

VERSE 2
When Christmas feels hard, painful, may you still find
HOPE in the Birthday Boy:  SAVIOR grown up.
May you know Jesus's COMFORT  He promised:
John 15  friendship, right here, with Him.
Comfort with Jesus if we let Him come in.
  >> CHORUS

CHORUS
As you remember the ones that you love, who've
gone on to heaven while you wait below.
May you find peace in God's John 14 promise:
All who love Jesus the CHRIST,  as LORD,
celebrate EVERY Christmas in the
Presence of Jesus The LORD,  the Birthday Boy
---
Jesus said this in Matthew 28 at the end.
Jesus NEVER shall leave His friends.  CELEBRATE!

As JESUS read the Isaiah 61 prophecy of Himself in the Temple
as He began His ministry,
He was also comforting all those whose babies were killed
soon after that first Christmas Day:

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;   [Isaiah 61:1]  ...
Christmas celebrates the Birthday Boy...
who became the MAN who died on the Cross for our sins:

Song Story:  THE  LYRICS:
I was praying about what words to share with a young man being bullied in his school. Of reminding him that bullies pretty much always act that way because *they're* scared of something. My mind drifted to my old Hip Hop song (done awkwardly enough that we in the studio still laugh at a middle aged woman bass player attempting this... only with God's help and sense of humor!) -- JAMES FOUR SEVEN.

Through James 4:7, God tells us to flee from evil, from those who seek our harm. We may not be able to physically do so, but we can refuse to let them into our minds.  In James 4:8, God gives us the METHOD to escape fear:  DRAW NEAR to Him.

Fear -- staying away from God -- is your choice.
Peace -- choosing to draw near to God -- is your choice.

These are the thoughts
that led to this song..... not to preach, but to reassure:
God does not WANT us to live in fear.
God gives us THE WAY OUT:   Choose to come to Him.  James 4:8.
Dedicated to our God who loves us THAT much.  Wow.  12 December 2013

Christmas Morn Sorrow, by DianaDee Osborne

Song Story:      I often try to write the song story to be short enough to fit the remaining space of a music or lyrics sheet so that musicians do not have an extra page to print out or keep on the music stand.   Not for this one.

This song... this concept that I am convinced is from God...
is devastatingly sad when we actually think about the words.

How this song idea from God 'came to be':
THE  MUSIC:
I sat at the church piano sadly one very early Sunday morning, alone. December First, a cold and sad time on my personal calendar. During the previous week, for the church cantata where I was chief musician, I had recorded at the professional studio that I used for final audio masters  a three-part harmony of the angels singing the “Glory to God” in the Bible telling of Jesus's birth. But I had kept thinking... How SAD our Loving God must have been, watching all that joy, seeing Simeon's and Anna's joy when Jesus was brought to the temple...   knowing what would be coming only about 33 years later.

I had written the basic concept of the song in my journal that morning. And so, as I sat at the piano with my open journal, I just “started playing”. And this is basically God's song that “came out.

Song Story:  THE  LYRICS:
In Verse 1, I selected that wording for the shepherds thinking of Jesus's several parables about Lost Sheep... He came to save not just the sheep but the shepherds. And it's really an amazing character description of God that He would first send His news to a “class” of people that most others mocked as dirty, insignificant.

In Verse 2, I selected that word “gladness” for the wise men's traveling,  thinking of one of my dad's favorite Christmas hymns, “As with gladness men of old...” Words: William Dix, 1860. Music: Konrad Kocher, 1838.

Dedicated to God Who Loved so much despite, 1 December  2013

LYRICS

1
Only God knew the sorrow of that first Christmas Morn.
As angels    sang “Alleluia! Alleluia!”,  only GOD knew what would come.
Shepherds worshiped Christ, rejoicing.  No longer would they be LOST!
    ONLY GOD knew the Ending.
    Knew about that Cross.
Bloody Cross. As angels    sang “Alleluia! Alleluia!”,
ONLY GOD knew the cost:  The MURDER of His Son.

2
Shepherds praised Baby Jesus, full of Joy, Christmas Morn.
As angels    sang “Alleluia! Alleluia!”, they did not know what would come.
Wise men traveled, filled with gladness, Worshiping God's Kingly Son.
    ONLY GOD knew THAT Christmas
    how much sorrow  would come.
    On a Cross.

As angels    sang “Alleluia! Alleluia!”,
ONLY GOD knew the cost   of His John 3:16  LOVE.

3
As WE praised God for sending His own Son, Christmas Morn.
As with joy WE sing “Alleluia! Alleluia!”, while knowing His Cross would come,
Let us SORROW for the SINS from which Jesus chose to save us.
ONLY GOD would choose to love
    so much .... He'd come.
    On a Cross.
As angels    sang “Alleluia! Alleluia!”,
ONLY GOD knew the cost   of His John 3:16  LOVE.

God's SUPPORTING WORDS:
JESUS READING THE PROPHECY OF HIMSELF in the Temple as He began His ministry:
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;   [Isaiah 61:1]  ...

NOTE: Besides the simple logic that only God is omniscient, we also know angels do not fully know the future besides what God shares (including in His Prophets' words) because Satan who is just an angel who chose by free will to reject God would never have urged people to crucify Jesus if  he as created angel had understood God's advance words of His coming Plan of Salvation....

For additional ideas about Scripture references to Satan throughout the Bible as a PERSON (not the personification of evil), see studies about double prophecies, including studies of God's Words in  Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28, Jesus speaking in John 8:44 and 10:10 as well as Luke 10:18 and more; First Timothy 3:6; Job 1:6-12 remembering that JESUS mentioned Job; First Peter 5:8 from the writer perspective of one who betrayed Jesus and yet saw forgiveness in turning back.

One of my research references that summarizes ideas was
http://www.goodseed.com/learning/article/isaiah-14-ezekiel-28/
SUMMARY sentence by ANDREW CROSS (author of “All that the Prophets have Spoken” etc):  “We believe that when Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 are interpreted in light of the whole of scripture, that one can say with confidence that these passages are speaking about Satan.”

AA Chorus, by DianaDee Osborne

AA CHORUS
ALBUM:      Amazing Holy Spirit 'n' Church

Song Story:  I confess:  I was really "miffed", shall we say?, one day.  Yes, we should "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15), but we also SUPPORT each other through 'stuff.  And even if someone else's 'stuff' isn't ours, we have our own needs to seek God's forgiveness.
The "AA" in the song title is not just the usual meaning... it's "ANY Addiction Chorus" -- including addictions to gossiping, envy, materialism, and even Workaholism (story of Martha in John 11).  So one day when I was listening to people gossip, I remembered this sight:

On 10 Sept 2010, I was in Amish country watching a team of
8 mules work together pulling a huge plow.
God brought to my mind the encouraging supportive verses Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 about holding each other up.  Within a couple of hours, I had written this song, with the Holy Spirit's empowering answer to my prayers for help.
As you listen, you can hear the anger that I felt as I wrote....
anger at the injustice that we ALL should feel (as God does)
when we people become critical rather than supporting others
who are fighting addictions of ANY kind.
Including addictions to gossip and criticizing.  --ddo
Dedicated to our Supportive God,   23 November 2010

Song Lyrics:
INTRO
Pray and ask God to please send
you someone to help you when
you just can't quite fight that sin on your own.
Ecclesiastes FOUR verse 9:  God loves you;  He's ON your side.
Don't delay.... just say:
God send me to help SOME-one, and
God send someone to help me, please.
Your Own Word tells me, God, that YOU WILL:
Ecclesiastes 4:  verses 9 to 12..... God says:

CHORUS   1
Two are better than one.
Two help fight hard temptations.  When
one is knocked down, the other picks him up.
Ecclesiastes Four, Verse 12.

CHORUS   2
Two are better than one.  With
God you are NEVER ALONE.   He'll
help you to fight “IT”.  Just ask Him for help.  James
Four Verse eight:  God will come help if you ASK.

CHORUS   3
Two are better than one:     God
created His church to help you.  Give
   each other LOVE....
                  and pray for each other:
Hebrews 10 Verse 25.    Reflect God.

Dorky Song, by DianaDee Osborne

DORKY SONG
ALBUM:      Amazing Hope 'n' Humor
SONG LOCATION:      http://dianadeeosbornesongs.com/Songs-2008-2012.php

TO HEAR SONG FREE,       CLICK HERE

Song Story:  THE  LYRICS
Like this song title, this is one of my funniest stories:  It takes me almost 90 minutes to reach my “final drafts” studio, Valley Worship and Praise. (God has honored me with enough songs to need 2 studios.... and provided J&T Studio when I had never even considered the fact that we were “getting behind” in recording all the great song ideas God has been providing.)

To use that travel time wisely, I listen to CDs I've created containing recordings that I have made in my home studio, sitting at the keyboard and “just playing” and creating loops and drumkit tracks and instrument tracks.  (Sometimes rather randomly.... and they come out great with God's help!  Having THE Creator for inspiration is AWE-some!)

As I listened to the recording of “UNTITLED HAPPY IN C”  (ok, so it's not an original song name, but it's descriptive!),  I was passing an exit only 8 miles away from my studio's exit.  By the time I got to the correct exit---
I  realized that I was singing what became the actual words to verse 1,  in this melody-- a true prayer, “THIS IS A DORKY SONG.”

Song Story:  THE  MUSIC
So   1/2 hour later,  VWP Studio recorded  Verses 1 and 2 which I had sung on the interstate.  However, since I'd just “written” this song, I got a speck off key at the end of verse one, and  I  REALLY blew it at the end of verse 2, so much that I laughed and laughed.

And laughed more as my producer Claxton hit the “stop recording” button, slowly swiveled in his chair toward me, and just silently looked at me with that raised eyebrow  he sometimes gives me ---
that silently says with amusement,    “Well, shall we try that AGAIN???”  When we listened to the playback,  we realized that Claxton had done something he never does.... he also started laughing, and it ended up on the recording.

But I enjoyed the playback so much that I decided to keep that draft a week to enjoy.  During the week of prayer, I decided that it just proved the song's point:  We ARE rather dorky without God's empowering that He promises to those of us who ask, in Ephesians 3:20. God's grace IS sufficient in our weakness.  He can use dorky people like me... what an honor!

I took the basic melody, turned the "plain" chords into "color" chords with lots of arpeggios, started layering in violin and flute orchestration, and added the gorgeous guitar touches. I literally just 'dropped in" notes at random.  I'm convinced:  This is another example of the Holy Spirit's creative empowering.  By the way:  The original  "UNTITLED HAPPY"  had an "accidental" overlap that was off time by just a  fraction, an  "accidentally" duplicated drum track. That gives the song the weird off-center feel for Part 1.   Dedicated to our HELPER God,  24 June 2011.

Lyrics:
1
This is a dorky song.  It has a DUMB melody.
This is a dorky song. But it's AMAZING what
God, MIGHTY GOD, can DO with dorky songs..... and dorky ME.

2
This is a dorky song.  It has a DUMB melody.
This is a dorky song. But it's AMAZING what
God's HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS in  dorky songs..... and dorky ME.
:)

SCRIPTURE
Jesus spoke to Paul who wrote these words in 2nd Corinthians 12:9MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU,  for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”  Paul's response was that he -- and we -- should not WORRY about feeling DORKY -- though he didn't use THAT word! -- but instead, use that fact to show others that  YES, it is the POWER OF CHRIST IN US that helps us. Second Corinthians, 12: 9.

LONG INSTRUMENTAL SECTION

3
This is a GORGEOUS song.  God empowered its dumb melody.
Now it's a gorgeous song -- like you and I can be.......
WHEN we pray Ephesians 3,  God empowers us:  We're not dorky.

REFERENCES:
Ephesians 3:20-21Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,  to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
2nd Corinthians 12:9 and 10  (New King James Version) - entire verse (only 1/2 is in song).
“And He [Jesus] said 'MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT   for you,
for My strength is made perfect in weakness. '  Therefore most gladly I will rather BOAST in my infirmities, that the POWER OF CHRIST my rest upon me.  I take PLEASURE in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs.... For when I am WEAK, then I am strong.”
When YOU are weak, rejoice in knowing that this is your witness to other people!  Your life will show God's power through your human weakness!

Combinatoric Waves Peace, by DianaDee Osborne

Song Story:  THE MUSIC.   (combinatorics not usually used with Western music)
During the Renaissance, people became more interested in the sciences and mathematics -- including combinatorics (Wikipedia).  It's intriguing that the MUSIC of this Combinatoric song   DOES sound rather like Renaissance music.

There are many types of combinatorics.
This song focuses on the UNION points of 2 series from
         God's World of nature:
Ocean waves crashing against a pointed rock barrier, coming from two directions.

One day I noticed something “different” in the sound as I stood by the water at dawn.  I closed my eyes... listened... realized that to my left, the water was like the usual 4/4 time with a heavy hit on the rocks as “Count 1” and a lighter hit on “count 3” and then repeating the pattern at the end of each 4 counts.

BUT -- on my RIGHT side, the water took longer between “count 3” and the heavy repeat on Count 1.  The Music of the Water was in 5/4 time as it hit the rock barrier at a different angle.
I charted out what I heard in the sand, and later created a spreadsheet to study my observation.  After talking with a couple of mathematicians, I learned that the word for this combination of two different series is “Combinatoric”.
By the way:  It ASSUREDLY required the Holy Spirit's help to figure out how to write the music sheet for a song with no chords and a key bass line!  (My deepest Thanks to Him!)  --ddo
Dedicated to Jesus, our Peace,  5 January 2012

Song Lyrics:

"Peace I give.    Peace I give.
"Peace I leave with you.  My Peace I give to you.”
 Jesus said in John 14: ... 27.
“Not as the world gives   do I give Peace.
Do not let your heart   be troubled.
Do not fear,  for  I AM  here with you.”
Jesus said in  John 14: 27.
        “COME,  Follow Me.
Combine me with your life, and I bring peace:
      COMBINATORIC  PEACE for you ....
.                  ....... in the Crash  of Life.”
========================================================================

REFERENCES:
COMBINATORIC:  Math term.  Taking 2 (or more) sets of something and comparing them to look for elements in common.

"COMBINATORIC"   related to God:
God can take ANYTHING... including crashing waves of problems and sorrows in your life, and unite it with a single factor that draws the waves of that set of problems into a unified piece:   JESUS.   Whatever “off” time we exist in, when we invite Jesus to be part of our lives, the combination is Peace With God.

Song Story:    THE LYRICS.
While discussing with my friend Sam that sometimes we don't need “Sunday School Answers” when we're down, this picture of a child in the womb came to mind.

When Jesus met people, He did not immediately tell them “how to fix yourself.”  Jesus showed that He CARED.  He quietly listened.  He called us to follow Him.
How many people have we turned from God because we preached “answers from the Bible” to them  without listening? Because we seemed to want to "be right" more than to comfort?

Song Story:    THE MUSIC.
I designed the music to be harsh and pounding for Part 1, building up to a crashing storm like we have in our souls sometime.  Then, in Part 2, the music is designed to becoming a flowing swing style music (yes, that's swing with a W).  The image in my head was of a kind of
bird nest that is lightweight yet firmly attached to a tree branch,
that sways in a wind and rocks the baby birds back to warm sleep....

Song Lyrics:   PART 1

So many songs  call for courage and trusting.
So many songs quote scriptures of strength.
So many songs re- mind me rightly :  Jesus  is Lord, and He promised me strength!

So many words of Jesus give comfort, promises from God Like John 17.  Yet  >>>
So many times my soul's real comfort is Mark 9's Word,
God understands my doubts!

So many times I have utter faith in Jesus yet
so many times I have utter doubt in me. _
Logic says I can always trust in Jesus, yet
Logic also says I'll hurt Him miserably....hurt Him miserably.
God the Creator has all the Power to keep mistakes out of His Bible Word!

Logic says I can trust every Promise.
Experience shows Romans 7 is true.
God, I'm so weary __what  can I do? __
God, I'm so weary __what  should I do? __

Song Lyrics:  PART 2 -- GOD's answer to you in your stress:

"DO NOTHING......" "Do NOTHING.
Just rest like a child in the womb, there's nothing to do.
Sometimes  you just rest in God...     Psalm 46: verse 10...
Jesus  withdrew to go pray...              Luke 5:16.
Jesus calls, “Come to Me, rest.  ...       Matthew 11    [verse 11]...

God says “Be still... Be still”  ....
       Psalm 46 verse 10.

Come to Jesus.  Pray and rest.....

like a child growing in amniotic fluid....
Just bathe in God's flowing love:  love for You.

Come to JESUS, THE WATER OF LIFE, and

rest in God's love... like a child.

REFERENCES:
ONE OF MY FAVORITE FAVORITE FAVORITE words from Jesus:
Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things [are] possible to him who believes."Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!"....Jesus took him [the child]  by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose."  -- Mark 9: 17-27 story, incl vs 24.
Jesus loves and answers prayers -- even when our feelings make us doubt.

Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites EACH one of us, “Come to me,
all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Here is God's answer from Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God”:
