Song Story:

The familiar story: I was going through my usual morning routine, brushing teeth, feeding cats, etc and praying... when I suddenly realized there was a melody in my head. I examined it - it didn't seem familiar (as in, that someone else wrote it!). I went downstairs to my recording studio to capture the shuffle melody quickly before I forgot it.

But instead of returning to my everyday work, I finished the song 1 hour later (2 music tracks). Went to scheduled Professional Studio #2 session. Recorded all vocals. Claxton Wilson added live drums & a draft bass,

& the song was on the World Wide Web at 1 AM, 18 hours later. It's God's Music!

Song Story: THE MUSIC:

I think the story behind this song is FUNNY. And it's by God's grace that I do, instead of getting all annoyed or fearful about “wasting time”.

This song was completed in less than 24 hours (basic music tracks also).
1. At the church sanctuary, I was praying during the afternoon before choir practice, and the concept came to mind (see final paragraphs for history).

2. That night, I played with loops in my studio program and came up with all the tracks for what is Part 1 of this song. I liked it so much that I sent it to my producer at Studio 2 to give him a laugh... He's gifted with jazz, but this is NOT my usual style. So it's another evidence of the Holy Spirit's Creative inspiration!

3. The next morning, I awoke thinking, “Well, if I'm going to write a song about getting even with Satan, I'd better be extra careful to watch for temptations because he's gonna want to get even back! AND HENCE I re-worded my original ideas to put this BRIDGE in.

Very first things I found when I went to my computer: The internet wouldn't work, a worse link than usual (but God helped of course).
AND - a flash drive FULL of files from my Studio 1 that I was supposed to take to Studio 2 over an hour from my home was not working... still isn't as I write this. But hey... God's work. I'll let Him help me figure it out:)

Song Story: THE LYRICS:

During the previous week, some mistakes I'd made were making me very fearful. I even called some of my prayer partners and confessed, with prayer requests. During my wait to see “what would happen,” I wrote the song (in 2 days) >>>

I WILL FEAR NO EVIL. During the writing, I returned to awareness of James 1 & 4, that trusting God really annoys Satan. God graciously brought me through yet another trial in less than a week yet in this small time my studio had already produced that song and put it on the World Wide Web to encourage anyone.

Song Story:

             I was rather sad because I had only one new song for LORD God for my first studio session of the year 2014. The MORNING of that session, I was looking (and praying) through my computer folder of started music drafts-- and found a complete project never used. I prayed for a psalm to try to fit words with the music. I thought as I prayed, “How about 98?”

             Looked it up -- the words fit PERFECTLY. And... I already had recorded Psalms 96, 97 and Psalm 99. God is finishing the series! I fit the words into the music in 1/2 hours and we recorded my vocals that night even though I had a bad cold - and put the draft on the World Wide Web the next morning.

This entire work of DiDoReflections is GOD's
evidence of how HE answers prayers
when we yearn to serve Him.
His Ephesians 3:20-21 empowering for HIS glory...
not that of us little songwriters honored by Him.

SONG STORY: THE LYRICS:

          Satan's had centuries of experience finding the weak points in people... So many things in life cause us fear.
I wrote this song's lyrics in the “high” of joyfully trusting God.
I wrote this song's music three months later in the “low” of joyfully trusting God even though I was unhappily fighting constant fear of having made some costly mistakes and the fear of not knowing what to do next (but in the trust: God listens.).

Why does God make so many promises to us?
LOVE. Desiring RELATIONSHIP with Him because
He DOES want you forever in heaven with him later but also NOW --
     James 4:7-8, the CURE for fear.
     Second Timothy 1:7 - God does not give us a Spirit of Fear. His perfect love casts out all FEAR when we trust....
God really cannot, by His Nature, lie -
Titus 1:2. GOD Himself speaking in NUMBERS 23:19.     And LOGIC.

THOUSAND DOLLAR PIZZAS

Song Story: THE MUSIC. Written with guitar in hand watching a bull frog stare at me from the pond at the ALIVE Music Festival in Canton Ohio USA, thinking about that sad January day when we ordered what became a very expensive pizza. We should have asked for delivery!!!

THE LYRICS:
     The song story is in the song... and it is true. The pizza that night ended up costing $1,003.11 (which doesn't rhyme with anything, so I had to speak it!) Yet it's so amazing -- we've had a lot of unexpected big bills come up, and yet ...
        God always keeps His 2nd Corinthians 9 promise to those who obey Him, including in trusting Him and SHOWING that trust by tithing, giving 10% off the top of their income. Lack of tithing shows lack of trust -- which God STILL will graciously overlook while blessing us sometimes.... but we miss SO much that way. It's not just Jesus's requirement (Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42) .....
        It's even fun to watch and see how God HELPS us afford the $1,000 pizzas   that come into our lives.

    Here's my sad tale of woe: The bill was really more.
    But in songs we can't say

You'd think they could round it down to a cost that rhymes with SOME thing."

Went to my book case, pulled out that red Bible.
Panic for coming bills can make us think of that.
Philippians 4 says God provides for our needs --

see how we'll EVER afford. But our Great God   PROMISES and proves again and again that He will provide all the needs for anyone who TRUSTS Him...
        IF we follow His Words in the Bible like Malachi 3, including to trust God with our finances and to share with other people.
        From 2nd Corinthians 9:8 New Living Translation, “And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” ----------
   Including when Life brings YOU a Thousand Dollar Pizza.

Song Story: THE COUNTRY MUSIC inspiration amuses me after years of saying "I don't like country." But in fact I've learned to cherish many music styles and, with God's creative help, to incorporate them into songs that are, admittedly, rather weird for me!

Song Story: THE LYRICS:
As I played this song to verify the lyrics against the audio file, one of my daughters was listening. She muttered under her breath, “Oh….. no!”

I laughed and reassured her that this is just a “general” song about children’s personalities…. not about her.

Or, perhaps more truthfully, no one would know *which* of all my daughters I was really thinking of as I wrote this Song!
My daughter’s adamant stubbornness probably saved her.
After a horrendous car accident with many many broken bones, doctors were not reassuring that she'd easily walk again. Yet my daughter’s stubbornness led her to “rebel” against the doctor’s predictions and determinedly work out with the physical therapist despite excruciating pain and discouraging weaknesses. Now she hikes mountains and slams volleyballs.....

Being stubborn FOR God, FOR what is right, is *not* to be avoided. Persistence is described by Jesus in the story of the widow who kept coming to the judge in the middle of the night to get justice…. Luke 18. “Stand Fast”, Jesus repeatedly said. It will save your life. The life that counts.
Dedicated to God, Who helps us Stand Fast (Galatians 5:1)... when we ask.

I really don't know where the weird music "in my head" came from, except to say "from God." I was going for a sound that sounded like

long-legged spiders dropping down from a wall.

The growly noise that starts the song is a loop I just "found" in Garageband (see also my blog dianadeegarageband). Claxton Wilson in my 2nd professional studio grabbed his drumsticks and started creating all those weird-er percussion sounds to match the mood!

THE LYRICS:
Sadly... amusingly... this song is a TRUE story. After leaving ALIVE 2009 and driving several hundred miles to the CREATION 2009 music festival, sure enough---a bunch of child's-hand-size white spiders hopped out of my tent case. And I did pray that I had not introduced a new species to the Pennsylvania mountains. However, after having gone to CREATION music festivals for ten years, the year 2010 was the first year I saw albino spiders at my Pennsylvania campsite. As the song says, I sure hope Pennsylvania already had .......!

It surely was not my intent that when I packed my camping tent,
    I packed in some albino spiders too!
        I drove them for 500 miles, all tucked in my Ohio pile of
           gear on my way to my new camp site.

I opened my packed tent case.....    Out FIVE albino spiders came.....
   I sure was not about   to chase them through
       Pennsylvania hills and drive them home to Ohio!

I sure hope Pennsylvania had albino spiders before I made
this mistake in taking five    to their country side.
    God, please forgive mistakes I made and stop any hurt I
       made that day. I can't stop spiders, but You can stop the hurt.

Romans 7 sure describes me.   I keep doing things I don't mean to do.
God, heal the hurt I've caused, I pray! Hurt to YOU, hurt to others,
   to Your World! Please heal the hurts I've made!
