Song Story: THE LYRICS:
Written during a prayer, while reading John Bevere's THE BAIT OF SATAN,
a book I got at the first anniversary of when it was a great review, 5 years earlier.
Came across the description of how people “get offended at God”
when they don't understand why in the world He's not
helping them serve Him in ministry.
It was a good question. Even as I wrote the song, I found
myself asking God about John 6, the section around 59-66.
The logical question: Why Didn't Jesus just EXPLAIN His statement
about eating His Body and drinking His blood?
Seems like God cause the situation of many disciples (not the 12 in John
6:66) getting OFFENDED, that God could have just explained.
his song helped me realize:
GOD CARES MORE ABOUT US TRUSTING HIM
than He does about answering all our questions.
Including why He doesn't help sometimes.
Whether we get offended by His teaching method is OUR choice.

LYRICS
1
I HAVE
PRAYED AND PRAYED, and this Bible I have read. I have
quoted what it said. STILL I wait and wait.
I have
done good things, served God's church, gave money, sang. God, I'm
tempted by offense: It seems You've not helped me.
CHORUS
I can see why some were offended by Jesus.
John 6, verse 66 -- Christ expects our Trust. LINK
God, I pray Your help. Give me wisdom to refuse to
take offense at You even when I am confused.
I don't understand Your plan.
Help me STILL to STAND on Your Word.
And to NOT be offended by Your Plan, my God.
2
I have
PRAYED AND STAYED, though I'm sifted 'til I shake. Help me,
LORD, like John 6 says -- in troubles to endure!
I have
tried all else. My one Hope is Jesus. God, help
me refuse to be offended by Thee! REPEAT CHORUS

God's SUPPORTING WORDS:
Matthew 13:54
. Coming to his hometown, Jesus began teaching the people in their
synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these
miraculous powers?” they asked. [But then they thought awhile] ...
57 And they took offense at Him....
And He did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith. (NIV)
John 6: 66-69. LINK
From that time many of His [Jesus's] disciples [the MANY beyond the original 12]
went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve,
“Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him,
“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life ... You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
NOTE: 5,000 people followed Jesus while he handed out free bread... same chapter!
