Song Story:
One very early Thursday morning after I'd prayed alone at altar (which I speak of only to exemplify that this song was indeed from God and He honors prayers),
1. I walked over to the sanctuary piano, played some Gm to F to Dm chord progressions,
2. I picked up my Bible, flipped through it, and landed on Daniel 9. After reading this entire prayer,
3. I asked the Holy Spirit to empower me with the ability ---- and
4. Within an hour, I had molded this wonderful URGENT prayer that our country needs in the 21st century into a form that would help Christ-followers remember--
We must PRAY for God to save our country, must PRAY for forgiveness from our sins. Must NOT simply presume upon God's love & goodness, as many of us do.
5. The music tracks including the
"shooting star background" were done within a day. God's Ephesians
3:20 empowering, for His and His only's Ephesians 3:21 GLORY.

then is God under any obligation to be under that nation? --
God's covenant (His PROMISE; Titus 1:2, He cannot lie) to protect His people
is a TWO-way covenant. WE have a part.
This prayer of Daniel to God is recorded in Daniel 9. It could be prayed for any nation that in past times had agreed to follow God, but then refuses to keep its side of the covenant. Hebrews Chapters 10 and 12 describe what such nations lose ... God's PROTECTION until WE repent and again join in praying to Him.
LYRICS
VERSE 1 (DANIEL 9:3)
I set my face toward Lord God, to pray with humble fasting. I
prayed to the Lord my God, OUR God and make humble confession.
2 (DANIEL 9:4)
O Lord, Great and Awesome God, Who keeps Your Covenant. Who
gives mercy to all who Love You and who keep Your commandments:

NATION prays: Forgive our sins!

VERSE 3 (DANIEL 9:5 and 6)
God, WE have sinned. We've been wicked. We've left Your Bible Precepts.
We've sinned. We've rebelled against Your judgments,
and ignored preachers You sent to WARN US.
4 (DANIEL 9:7 and 8)
O Lord, Righteousness belongs to You.
BUT SHAME belongs to us! Shame to our nation You have punished
for our nation's unrighteousness. OPTIONAL CHORUS
5 (DANIEL 9:9 and 10)
To the Lord, Our God, belong mercy and forgiveness
(though we have rebelled). We have
NOT obeyed God's Voice or walked in His Laws which He
gave by prophets and taught by Jesus. OPTIONAL CHORUS
6 (DANIEL 9:11 and 12)
Yes, ALL our nation has transgressed God's Law.
Still we will NOT heed God's warnings!
We should NOT be surprised when God allows disaster to punish our choices.**

Yes, God's Bible clearly says disaster WOULD come,
yet we people have not prayed THAT
God would turn us back from our sins ---
have not humbly prayed that God would help us understand. OPTIONAL CHORUS

And so God SHALL bring disaster upon our Mighty Land.
For the Lord our God is righteous in ALL He does.
Our only Hope is confess and PLEAD:

Then some CHURCH leaders said, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah....
Luke 11:32, almost exactly same words about God forgiving nation of Nineveh after they were sorry for their sins and begged for forgiveness.
2nd Chronicles 7: 14, from God:
“IF [if, IF, IF] My People... humble themselves and pray....”
