Song Story: THE MUSIC:
One of my very first song gifts from God.
Probably around 4th, after AMAZING GRACE BLUES "re-mix" using someone else's lyrics!, and the third verse of what became I CHOOSE YOUR CHOICE;
and the verse of "I Praise You Despite", and the
start of the flowing stream of songs with ABOVE MY SORROW SEA.
Squeaky Wheel Praising was around then too...
I needed to write a song to remember God's Bible words with scripture references!
Traditional by John Newton (Public Domain CCLI #22025)
Dedicated to our Amazing God 18 April 2008
LYRICS
Traditional Verse with new CHORUS 1:Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see....
How self-centered I have been, How I’ve focused all on me
How amazed I am to be graced by Your love
and by all of Your tears for me................. ( “Oooo” 2nd time)........
Traditional Verse with new CHORUS 2:
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see....
How for-giving You have been, Suff' ring anything for me.
How a - mazed I am to be graced by Your love
that You'd die on a tree -- for me................. ( “Oooo” 2nd time)........
Traditional Verse with new CHORUS 3:
Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come.
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will bring me home....
Where You open wide Your arms, Calling, "Come, and be with Me!"
How amazed I have been to be graced by Your love,
by Your welcoming tears for me.................
( “Oooo” 2nd time)........
Traditional Verse with new CHORUS 4:
When I've been there 10,000 years, bright, shining as the sun,
I've no less days to sing Your praise than when I'd first begun,
Singing "Hal - le- lu- jah, Lord! I was blind, but now I see!
How amazed I have been to be graced by Your love
and by all of Your tears for me................. ( “Oooo” 2nd time)........
God's SUPPORTING WORDS:
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God,
might taste death for everyone.”
