Song Story:
The original thought came while discussing upcoming Easter plans for
our church's worship services, and a common liturgy (bulletin) sentence
with a church friend. I blurted out,....“People tend to quote 'Christ
died, Christ arose, Christ will come again' with the same passion as
saying 'I bought some bread today.' ”
Dedicated to Jesus, Who gave Himself for us. 2 March 2010
“And what a difference between our sin and God's generous gift of forgiveness.
For this one man, Adam, brought death to many through his sin.
But this other man, Jesus Christ, brought forgiveness to many through God's bountiful gift.
So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death,
now God's wonderful kindness rules instead,
For this one man, Adam, brought death to many through his sin.
But this other man, Jesus Christ, brought forgiveness to many through God's bountiful gift.
So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death,
now God's wonderful kindness rules instead,
giving us right standing with God
and resulting in ETERNAL life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
---Romans 5: 15, 21 New Living Translation

Verse 4 References:
John 6:33. 35, and 49-51
"For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. .... And Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst....I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilder-ness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.' "
Verse 5 references:
Matthew 2:6. “'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.'"
John 10:11-16. JESUS- "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, [he who is] not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and One shepherd.”
Hebrews 13: 20- “Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant...”
1 Peter 2: 20-24.
For what credit [is it] if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently?
But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,
that you should follow His steps:
"Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth" [Isaiah 53:9];
who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered,
He did not threaten, but committed [Himself] to Him who judges righteously;
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree,
that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--
by whose stripes you were healed.
1 Peter 2:25. “For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”
1 Peter 5: 4, 6. “and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. “ .... 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,

How can we?
How can we?
How CAN we say “Christ Jesus died on a cross” with
lack of true passion with which we might say:
“I went to the store today”?
2
How can we?
How can we?
How CAN we say “Christ Jesus rose from the dead” with
lack of true passion with which we might say:
“I bought some fresh bread today”?
3
How can we?
How can we?
How CAN we say “Christ Jesus will come again” with
lack of true passion with which we might say:
“I came home and put it away”?

The Bread of Life,
Jesus left Heaven above to John 6:35, 48, 51; John 6:33
bring us His manna, to show us His love, to
feed us God's Word of Life offered to all, so
HOW CAN WE not love Him back?
How can our PRAISE show such lack?
How CAN WE?

The Shepherd of Life,
Jesus came to guide us, to Matthew 2:6, John 10:14-16
